2013 And What A Great Start!

Just started my third year at Animation College NZ and this year is really looking exciting. It's a lot more work than the previous two years, but I really like that and I'm looking forward to the challenge!

I can't speak much about the work I am doing currently as this year most of the stuff we are working on is confidential (which is also pretty darn exciting!), but I will say that it is great fun and an awesome challenge which is allowing me to really push myself and be with others who are really going all out as well!

If I am given the green light (and after our current project is done) I may be able to post up some stuff that I've been doing which should be pretty neat! :)

Well, that is all for now! :)

Thanks for reading,

Paula

Bears

I was looking back through an old sketchbook of mine and I stumbled across these. They're actually from 2009, but I still think that they pretty nice looking, especially since I was only 15 or so at the time. For me this is an indication that it was a good move to start spreading out and not just drawing pencil animals from photographs; or at least actually think about the anatomy beneath (which I wasn't really doing a few years back).

Because I found (and still find) drawing sketches from photos relatively easy, so I think also changing my main way of drawing to digital is good also as it offers some different challenges (and advantages) that aren't available through the standard traditional pen and paper.

Anyway, that's all for now!

Thanks for reading,

Paula! :)

Final Trip!

Okay guys, I'm going away on a hiking trip but I'll be back on Sunday. :)

After this, there are no more trips planned so I want to focus on drawing more things and bumping up my digital painting skills and such!

Thanks for being patient and I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday! :)

Cya soon!

Summer Time and Chistmas Holiday Fun!

Hey Ya'll!

I'm back again!
It's been a fairly hectic year, but now I have finished the second year of my course and I am fully ready for the holidays and perhaps a nice tan in the Summer sun!

I have found it a bit tricky to update all three websites (DeviantART, Tumblr and here) on a weekly basis while I was so busy, but now I feel that I am able to continue with the regular schedule. :)

(Also, if you ever feel the need to check out my art on a more regular basis my Tumblr and DeviantART accounts are there for you guys to check out.)

Here are the things that I have been doing in the mean time:

Thanks for reading guys! Until next time :)

Photostudy Jellyfish

Just as the title suggest- a photostudy of some Jellyfish. This was a little different to what I usually draw so I thought I would give it a go. I apologise for the short update this week, but I've got my relatives all up this week and weekend so it makes for a very very busy time (but a lot of fun though)!

That's all for now! Thanks a lot for reading :)

Animated Icons

Two little avatars that I made yesterday :) I decided to give pixel art a try as I have never tried it and it looks like a lot of fun. I then decided that I also wanted to try some animation on Photoshop CS5 for the first time as well and this was the result!

I decided to go with a Portal theme because they are recognisable and fun to draw. I just sort of guessed my way through this, but it seems to have worked without too many issues so that's good I think.

I may do more if I think of other things to animate and pixelate. :)

That's all for now and thanks for reading! :)

Armageddon Post

Hey all out there! This was the picture that I drew as a sort of demonstration thing over the long weekend. I was there on the Saturday and then I came back on the Monday with my sister to have another look at the goodies that were available. I spent way too much money, but I did get a lot of cool stuff which was really good!

It was a lot of fun drawing this and talking to people about drawing and that sort of thing, though it was a little bit scary at first I sort of got used to it after a few hours. Oh and my favourite part of the weekend was when one guy was saying to his friends that the only reason my picture looked good was because I was using a large tablet- but when one of his friends actually had a look he saw that I was using a very small Wacom Bamboo and then his friends mocked him and laughed at him and it made me crack up laughing so much.

So a good weekend was hopefully had by all!

Right! That's all for now! Thanks for reading :)
