Speed painting and new accounts

Two posts in as many days? Well, I'll be darned!

Another speed paint! This time it's another landscape and it's of the Rice Terraces in Banaue (I assume that's spelt correctly). I've never been here but that's one of the wonders of the internet isn't it?

I discovered it while I was trundling through Tumblr yesterday, so I figured I may as well go and paint the thing.

As you have probably gathered, (nice segue there right?) I have just set up a Tumblr account. So why not take a peak? It's brand new at the moment but I guarantee more stuff is coming soon :).

Well thanks for reading everyone, catch you later! :)

Focusing and studies

I apologise for the lack of updates lately! Time is just really getting away from me at the moment what with projects and the sort to finish off.

OK! Well, today I thought I would knuckle down and do a drawing study. I didn't want to spend too long on it, as it is only a study (which is why this isn't finished), but it turned out better than I was expecting.

I'm really trying to improve my drawing skills as I have decided that I really do want to be involved with concept art (hopefully involving games), so I'm trying to work on the foundations (and actually seeing what things look like- rather than just charging in and not really knowing where things go/ how things are proportioned), so I thought people were a good place to start. It is a little daunting seeing my skill level and where it is at the moment, and then thinking about where it needs to be to become professional. I know I need to improve a lot but sometimes it's a bit difficult to know where to begin...
Practice, practice, practice I suppose! I just need to practice a bit of everything now :)

Well, got to get onto more drawing. That's all for now, and thanks for reading!

Over and out! :)

Speed painting update

Hey guys! I haven't been on in a while because of all sorts of things happening in real life. But they are good things, and things are very exciting! I thought I would just update with a speed painting that I did today in the mean time. I'm trying to do so many different things at once, as usual, but some things are slipping by the way-side.

BUT ANYWAY! Here is the speed painting! Enjoy and hopefully soon I can do some proper updates with some other stuff :)

Speed painting of sorts

This was my first speed painting without reference! I had a lot of fun palying around with the colours and I tried to get some depth into this image... I find that hard sometimes... I also tried to play around with some of the leading lines and the general composition of this piece and I added the person for a little bit of interest and to add more of a focus for the picture. Done on CS5 as per usual. And now I'm keen to do more of this sort of thing!

Desert Scene

Daily (or so) speed paint. This one is pretty bad :x But I thought that I would upload anyway, get some fresh stuff up here as well. Tried out some different things as well with some new brushes and I'm not too sure about them, but hey I'll keep experimenting!
Stock photo was found here.

More Speedy Paintings

... But this time it was less speedy. This one took me about an hour, because I slowed down and tried to focus more on painting techniques and things. I played around a bit with various ways of doing things, but I only used 3 brushes in total and it was all done on one layer.

Going to try and do these as often as possible as I feel like I'm learning a lot from doing them.

Speed Painting

Just a quick upload of my speed painting that I did today just to get some practice in. As you can probably tell I have greatly fallen out of practice...

Took about 15-20 minutes in CS5. I'm going to try and make this a regular occurence, and I will upload them when I do them. Ohhhh I have so much to learn...

Oh! And the picture was drawn from a reference which can be found here.
